Within Somewhere Out There, there exists a group referred to as outcasts* that resemble us more closely than any other catalogued entity. While these outcasts shy away from human contact and only wish to return to the void, one in particular, known as "KB", has made repeated contact with our expeditions. Through her, we've learned a lot about Somewhere Out There, the void as both a location and an entity, and other details that would have been impossible to discover on our own!

*Also known by their other name, rejects. The easiest way I've found to differentiate them is that rejects look like people going to a costume party, and entities look like enemies you'd fight in a videogame (more or less).

Aside from being rather social for her kind, KB stands apart from the other outcasts through her ability to manifest brightly-colored void matter, shapeshift*, and exude physical sound waves quite like a living speaker! While our technology has yet to capture KB's likeness in the metaphorical flesh, our art department has made several drawings and renders to help familiarize you with who she is!

*The human form she wears is a front. KB is more akin to a writhing mass of void matter filled with teeth and spikes than anything she pretends to be.

[note before website goes live: clean these examples up or try to make it look a bit more professional; definitely get rid of the “cutesy” text left on a few of these. Some of the guys have been drawing her like she's a cartoon character or, God forbid, a mascot for the OEA, and we're worried it's going to make her seem too innocuous. This thing is awkwardly cordial at best and an absolute terror at worst.]

[^^ Isn’t there a literal carboard cut out of her at Main? She basically IS a mascot.] [< not cardboard but there’s a bunch of plastic standees of her in that new visitor wing. Whoever wrote that in bold ^ isn’t up to date or been to Main in a while. I think they’re genuinely trying to make her the face of SOT for when they go public.]

[No joke, I heard that they’re drafting merch of her and some of the entities too, I guess to help soften the disclosure blow?] [<< lmao seriously?? What next, guided tours through the irradiated hell dimension??] [Lol what would they even put on the brochure, just like “Come on down and watch your favorite void monster have a panic attack and explode half a tile! It’s fun for the whole family!”]

[Guys this isn’t a forum can we stay on track here.]

VIBRANT VOID MATTER

Unique to KB, the void matter that she's made from manifests with bright neon accents that can shift in hue. Outside of the very rare appearance of colored lights or painted details that pop up within Somewhere, KB is the most notable specimen that's composed of this specialized matter!

It retains its bright attributes even when brought into our world, and studying this variant may be the key to manifesting void matter objects that are not only in black-and-white, but made in full color too! One day, we’ll be able to integrate it into our world so seamlessly that you might not be able to tell which blade of grass is Earthly and which has been shaped from void matter!

OTHER DETAILS OF NOTE

  • The horns of her mask can appear anywhere between short and stubby to sharp and elongated (we believe this is akin to changing hairstyles for her).

  • The accents of her void matter can sometimes show up as a gradient of colors all at once, but normally, she’ll cycle through one solid color at a time, and is most often seen with an orange hue.

  • A glowing star of an “eye” can also manifest in either eye hole of her mask, but she’s just as often seen with no eye glow at all.

  • If she forgoes wearing a mask, her head will still appear with horns, but will be completely darkened with only one eye showing. This false face can further open up into a variety of grotesque forms or bright light.

  • KB has represented herself/her name with 4 different symbols (illustrated to the side, drawn by KB), the one most often depicted being the upside-down star.

  • Speaking of, if “KB” stands for something, we have no idea what it is [maybe don’t admit that, or write it to sound less casual.]

  • Just like everything else in Somewhere, KB is 100% made up of void matter, from her form to her clothes to her mask, allowing it all to shapeshift with her. While she prefers to wear a bodysuit, she’s also adopted more casual fashion trends from our world [genuinely did not know what to think when we saw that she had made herself a pair of chuck taylors and sweatpants. No idea where she’s getting her fashion inspo from, especially considering her normal outfit looks like she’s going to a suspiciously leather-themed rave.]
